I agree whole heartedly.
Posted on November 22, 2008, 10:44 amI agree whole heartedly. BUT. When there are no available trained piercers and only people who care for your money and not you and your new piercing (who don't know jack about what they're doing), self-piercing looks VERY attractive. Isn't it better to be doing it yourself, knowing your anatomy better than these beauty therapists and hairdresses who claim to know what they're doing then have them stick a (probably unclean, pre-used) needle in you? I mean, if you're going to self-pierce assumedly you've done a bit of research into piercing, anatomy, aftercare and everything (which is more than these 'professionals' have done) and assuming that you've done that it's pretty obvious which the safer option is. Risk being pierced by an untrained person with no idea what they're doing? I know what I'd rather do.
I still agree that children buying piercing kits and crap off ebay are stupid and they're putting themselves at unnessesary risk, but self-piercing isn't only done by them. Self-piercing has been given such a negative outlook when in a fair few situations it's probably the safest way to go.
~~I don't mean to offend anyone with my opinions, I'm just tired of self-piercing being bashed and the extreem lack of any real professionals in Adelaide.~~

I agree with Jangles. I
Posted on December 29, 2008, 9:39 pmI agree with Jangles. I think that the DIY is the safest way to go. If you don't do your research and know what you are doing before you do it, then you deserve the consequences that you will no doubt have as a result.

What about those of us out
Posted on September 8, 2009, 9:59 pmWhat about those of us out there who want to make a career out of this but have no options in my area to apprentice? I've done research, bought a piercing bible, taken an anatomy/physiology class,i've made my own "bible" with charts, instructions, etc, etc. I'm extremely aware of the dangers of piercing and just want to do a good job on my new path. I completely agree that teenagers getting kits to pierce themselves is dangerous and a health hazard. But not everyone is unaware. I for one would never, ever put anyone in jeopardy if i can help it. And in this i can. Did any of this make sense or am i just rambling? hahaha!
