This past Monday I finally did it. I had decided to finally stretch my Apadravya from a 4 gauge to a 2 gauge. I never really thought I'd be interested in doing it but I had noticed that my piercing was beginning to fit loosely around my jewelry and I contemplated for about two weeks and when talking to my piercer who also happens to be a good friend of mine one day, I told him to order a barbell for me. It's always cheaper to get him to get stuff for me...it just tends to take a bit longer but that's fine when he's saving me a fair amount of money. Anyway...last Monday (8/10) it came in. He sold me a pin-set taper to go with it (friend price of course) and off I was. I couldn't wait. Even though I was at work, I couldn't bear it. I was like a boy with a new toy. While on a break, I snuck off to the bathroom with a single-use packet or Surgilube (R) and cleaned everything with some Provon (R) and began. It took about 15 or 20 minutes to complete the stretch...last thing I wanted to do was hurt myself...that's not a place to have a blow out...scary thought.

This is my second pin-set taper and I'll tell you, I will never not own one to go with my Apadravya barbells. The tissue tends to want to close that hole quickly. If you take the jewelry out for much more than say 5 or 10 minutes the piercing will start to shrink up on you and trying to force a barbell through is just not a good idea...speaking from personal experience. One time early this spring I took my barbell out to clean and sterilize it and didn't put anything back in. Instead I ended up laying down on the couch and taking a nap. It was a lazy Saturday. When I got up to get ready to go out for the night, I went and grabbed my barbell to put it in and to my surprise it would not fit. After struggling for a bit, I called my piercer thinking if worst came to worst I could have him put it back in for me. He said it's pretty common. Most guys don't think about it. He said I was more than welcome to come to the shop and he'd re-insert it for me if I wanted. He then made me another proposal. He happened to have a 4 gauge pin-set taper that was the same brand as my barbell and said it was new and never used as after he'd purchased it he ended up gauging up so it just was never needed. He said instead of me having him insert the jewelry I would have my own taper and would never have to worry about it again. This sounded like a great idea to me and at the price he gave me it didn't make sense to do anything else. After chatting for a few and collecting my new taper, I left him to work and me to take care of my business. I didn't even wait till I got home. Once I got in my car, while sitting there next to a parking meter at about 8:30 pm, I got out my jewelry, screwed the taper on tightly, unzipped my pants, pulled out my , lubed up the taper and went to it. Thank God! It only took a minute or two to get it through but once again, I didn't want to force the subject too fast so I didn't injure myself. It felt so good to get the barbell back in and there was that sense of self-satisfaction too...I took care of it myself. I also became quite aware that I was parked on a somewhat busy street/sidewalk in a Toyota Corolla with no window tint and here I am with my out LOL! I looked around while putting myself and everything away and no one that I could see had noticed or was paying any attention to me so I started my car and away I went to have a few drinks and enjoy the rest of my night.

Sooooo...I'll reiterate...I will never not own a taper and a pin-set taper is the best for barbells of course because it just screws into the internal threads to make it easier and you definitely don't want an externally threaded barbell for a genital piercing. Now I sound like a commercial HAHAHAHAHA!
