It really puts things in
Posted on October 20, 2009, 9:10 amIt really puts things in perspective, doesn't it? My heart goes out to all the servicemen/women and their families. Ya'll are faced with the realities of this war. It sucks, but people only see what they want to see or what the mainstream media chooses to show us. Thanks for reminding us!!

I just retired from the
Posted on October 20, 2009, 10:21 amI just retired from the military two months ago after 26 years, 2 conflicts and 2 wars.
I want to thank you for posting this. I feel I should also point out the vast majority of the military effort over there in both wars is humanitarian and nation building. (Don’t believe what the media is telling you about nation building) We are trying to help build their nation to become more stable so they don't have to rely on the Taliban or Iran for support.
This area of the world is the nest of terrorism and part of this war is to put out the flame that drives these young men and women to despair and ultimate reliance to the mad men that want to set off a nuke in downtown USA.
Yes folks, that threat is more real than you know. Trust me on that one. I know first hand. Iran is doing everything in its power to see that it happens. They would like nothing better than to see millions of us die on our streets and see our system of government and economy crumble.
When you stand up for a Soldier, Marine, Seaman and Airman, you are standing up for you and your family too. We are standing up for each other. Thanks again and thanks to your brave husband for serving as well. Hooah!

Posted on October 20, 2009, 11:54 amDang, I am feeling the LOVE in the Tribe this week!! And I'm sending those vibes to our armed forces and their loved ones, wherever they are stationed. Y'all rock.

Thank you Used for posting
Posted on October 20, 2009, 7:15 pmThank you Used for posting this. I've seen this comparison before and always appreciate it being pointed out to others. regardless of your (or my) political views, our Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen are doing their jobs at great sacrifice for each of us.
Thank you Mike and Doc for your service. And thank you anyone reading who has or is serving.
I also served, ten years active US Navy.

Posted on October 20, 2009, 8:32 pmMy respect and admoration to you mike911. Thank you sir for your service as well.
I also want to send out warm (((HUGS))) to U&A for enduring the life of a military spouse. Ask my wife. She went through hell at times just to support me.

U&A, We do sure take a lot
Posted on October 20, 2009, 9:51 pmU&A,
We do sure take a lot of things for granted sometimes don't we? Probably not you as much as the rest of us, since you're married to a soldier. How easy it is to complain about the tiniest things. Thanks for the reminder U&A, I need something like this from time to time. I do care about our troops and I am truly grateful to both them and their families for all they sacrifice for us, for me, but since they are half way around the world, its easy for everyday life to distract me, make me forget what they, and their families, are doing, giving, sacrificing, enduring, for me and my family.
Thanks again, U&A for the reminder and T H A N K Y O U Doc, U&A (AKA Mrs. Doc), Mike H, Mrs. Mike H, Mike 9, Mrs. Mike 9, and all of you "tribers" who serve or have served, and all who are wives, husbands, children of someone who serves or has served.
PS: Don'tcha just love Didit's new avatar??

Posted on October 22, 2009, 7:38 amI thought that since music seems to have become a topic here and I like country, I would add this for our service members.

Never know how to reply to
Posted on October 22, 2009, 7:34 amNever know how to reply to the "Thanks for your service" or "You are a hero" I do a job, and - excuse the egotism - am damn good at it. I don't like to be thank, just supported. Nobody thanks a police officer, or a fireman, unless they are a direct player in some disaster.
The way I see it if you really want to thank someone, thank the spouses. Without them a soldier could never do their job. Military spouses are the backbone of the Armed Forces. Anyony that has spoken the NCO creed knows what I mean.
By no means am I trying to be disrespectful, I thank each and everyone of you for your support and/or service, I'm just trying to give credit where credit is due.
Love you baby!!

Doc, I appreciate your
Posted on October 22, 2009, 10:46 amDoc, I appreciate your response to the thanks. Just would like to point out that my thanks is based on the fact that you (and Mike H. and plenty of others here) are doing (or did) a job that has much higher expectations (even if most people don't realize it) than "just a job". I don't expect thanks from everyone for doing my job, but truly appreciate those who understand things like Used's original post about what we go (went) through to accomplish the job. Doc, please keep up the great work.
I agree, huge thanks to those who support us. It is much harder for family to get through our job than us. (Part of why I left active service was for my family - I was overseas and unable to return, like many others, when my first daughter was born.

Posted on October 22, 2009, 4:31 pmDoc I for one thank all of the service (enlisted & spouses), police, fire, rescue, and teachers I come in contact with. I will always support you who fight the fight overseas. I have never served in the capacity you are, but have many loved ones who have/had. You deserve Thanks. You deserve support. So I am just going to piss you off and thank you again for all the effort you give. It is because of folks such as you that I have the opportunity to worship God, live & speak free, and live the life I have. So get over it and THANKS!! LOL!
