Like a few other people with PA's, 'normal' piercings like ears, nose, mouth etc. have never really appealed to me but having something out of the ordinary, yet private, like a PA really got me interested. Of course I'd thought about having a PA on and off for probably a year or two but I started to consider it more seriously at the end of September and doing more research to see what it felt like, how painful it was and so on. Tribalectic and it's excellent Experiences and Pictures sections really helped with this!
Days before the piercing:
For me, actually phoning up to make the appointment was pretty nerve wrecking as it meant I was committing myself to having the piercing but I managed to do it and arrange the appointment for a Saturday.
Saturday 3rd October 2009:
I decided to get there by train so I knew when I would arrive and have not much time to kill. I got there, filled in the forms and then had to pay ... only they don't accept cards - d'oh ! So I had to leave and go to a cash point - the last chance to escape but I got the money and came back.
After that I went into the piercing room, then the piercer got ready and I took my trousers down. Another thing I was worried about was getting an erection but like others have said in that sort of clinical environment you don't usually get one and they were right, not sure if I could have got an erection if I tried !
.
The receiving tube was inserted and it's not particularly bad, uncomfortable and unusual perhaps but nothing horrific. The piercer then got me to confirm where he would pierce and I confirmed it - off centre to the right as I'm not circumcised. I took a deep breath and he did it. Some sharp pain that lasted very briefly then he inserted the jewellery, a ball closure ring type, cleaned up the bit of blood then put a bandage over it and I was good to go.
All over in about 10 minutes ! Probably less as I wasn't really paying attention at the time, heh
. The aftercare advice was basically the same as posted here on Tribalectic and other places so they know what they were doing.
Later the same day:
I would advise if you get a piercing like this to do it over the weekend, when you're off work as it's so much better to be able to check it as and when you feel you need to. I took the bandage off after an hour and arranged a salt soak. Before doing the soak I had a pee and it does burn a little and mine did start bleeding as well but after it calmed down a bit I salt soaked it which was really good for removing the dried blood that had built up when it was bandaged. Every time I peed it started bleeding a little but soon stopped so I wasn't really concerned about it.
I wasn't sure what would happen when I slept but it has to be done ! I sleep on my side anyway so I didn't have to change anything I did. Not sure whether it was the night time pee I had or whether it just got itself into an awkward position but when I woke up the next morning my boxers were pretty bloody and there was a small amount of blood on the sheets
.
Sunday 4th October, day 2:
First salt soak of the day was again good for cleaning everything, especially the dried blood from over night. I think it was still bleeding a little when I peed but a lot less than the previous day. Other than that nothing out of the ordinary.
Weeks 1-2 after the piercing:
I salt soaked at least two times a day, sometimes three (morning, afternoon, before bed). There was always usually some pale yellow/white gunk that the salt soak removed which I guess was good for the health of the piercing.
Week 3-4 after the piercing:
Continued the salt soaks two/three times a day but the amount of gunk removed was less and less - week 4 there was virtually none.
Today, 4 weeks on, 31st October 2009:
Overall so pleased I had this piercing done !
. I'll probably now only do one salt soak every few days or so just to make sure it's nice and clean.
I can't wait to start going to bigger gauges as well but the best advice on that seems to be patient and go slowly. I love the way it looks and the bigger gauges will make it look even better !!
If you read all of that you deserve a medal, but it was my PA experience !
