I have heard a few stories from people who have had a VCH, and all of them highly recommended it. I had determined to do it, but was very nervous about it, and ended up thinking about it, reading, researching, etc for the last 2 years, but never got up the guts to actually do it! Aside from my ears, and a nose ring I had for about 6 mos when I was 15, this is my only piercing. I`m definitely not your typical hardcore piercee.
Husband and I are going on vacation for our 10th anniversary, and with my 30th birthday fast approaching, I decided what better time than the present to bite the bullet and finally do it! I had mentioned it to him previously, but didn't tell him I was actually going to finally go and do it. So it was a warm day, which I thought would be better, as I could just wear a dress and not have the extra embarrassment of having to drop trou in front of a stranger.
So I called up the local piercing shop that had come highly recommended and made an appointment for later that afternoon. I was incredibly nervous when I got there, but once I met the piercer (who again, came highly recommended), my nerves eased up significantly. He was incredibly professional and really put me at ease. We went over the procedure briefly, and he made sure of exactly what I was looking for, aftercare, and a few basic things like that, and then he went to set up the room. He called me back to the piercing room and gave me some options as to jewelery and suggested an appropriate position that was easiest for him, most comfortable for me, and would lessen the chance that I might jump unexpectedly. So I sat on the reclined chair with my left leg straight out and the right one hanging over the side of the chair, and hiked up my dress. He cleaned the area, and checked things out to make sure the piercing would work, and again, made me feel very comfortable. So he explained to me what would happen while he was doing it- he marked the spot, put on the clamp and told me to take a deep breath. I felt one sharp pinch and it was done. Less than one full second of pain! He transferred the curved bar into the piercing, which was slightly uncomfortable, but again, lasted just a second, and it was done. No pain whatsoever after this point. It bled a bit, but after about a minute or so, it was fine, and I was able to get up and put my undies back on and we were done.
I did have a few spots of blood for the next few hours, but literally less than a nickle sized spot altogether. No bruising, no swelling, no pain.
It has now been 4 days since I got my VCH and I haven't had any pain or oozing, crusting, etc. It seems to be healing really well with just keeping the area clean and doing sea salt soaks 3x daily. I've been fending my husband off for the past few days as I want to keep it a surprise til it's healed a bit more and 'useable' but I can't wait to show him and think it will really spice things up on our trip! It looks great and I can't wait to try it out!
