It's an understatement that I want to do this Pixie piercing for a very long time (Pixie was a girl used to work as Kat Von D's store manager from LA Ink, in case you don't know) Anyhow, there were many names for this piercing: cheek piercing (of course), dimple piercing, Pixie piercing, etc.) I have my eyes on this for a very very long time (even before the name Pixie piercing was coined) Anyhow, I went online to check out the tattoo/piercing shops in my city, but most of the place provided piercing do not show much of experiences, some don't even know what cheek piercings were (of course I didn't go to those places) I was worried about the experiences of the piercers in my city, in case you don't know NC doesn't regulate piercings, so any Dick, Tom and HArry could stick a needle in your body, take your 20, and out you go (Yes, it is that cheap in Charlotte) But what about the quality of the piercing. Who really knows? Who really cares? It isn't regulated. In the process of finding the perfect place to have my cheeks pierced, I called Krazy Kats Tattoo and then checked out their portfolios online. There was this picture of this girl and her friend/sister, both had their piercings (one on her lip, and one on her cheeks-both of them) I talked to Ms. Tee and was pleased to know that though cheek piercings were not very popular, she had done quite a few, and all her follow-ups were doing great. When I came in, she explained to me the pros and cons of cheek piercings, as well as any piercings around the mouth and face area as well as how to take care of yourself, what to expect afterwards. She even gave me the aftercare sheet to read and once I was ready, she said, I could come in anytime. I went for it the following day. I know I cannot wait. My boyfriend and I walked in around noon, and after signing the consent form and everything, we were ready to have my cheeks pierced. I wouldn't let my boyfriend come in with me, guess my pride took over that I didn't want to appear weak in front of him. My heart was pounding really hard, but Ms. Tee made me feel very comfortable and relax when I got in the piercing room. I know it's always hurt less than you think it is (I had my tragus and nose pierced so I am not new to piercings), but I still couldn't help it. By the way, the piercing room has all this funny pictures and jokes that made me laugh while I was waiting for Ms. Tee to set up stuff. To tell you the truth, I tried to pinch my cheeks so many times the night before, imagining what it was going to be like. After having me rinse my mouth with mouthwash, Ms. Tee then cleaning and putting two little marks where the piercings were going to be, Ms. Tee took out the clamp, 2 pretty long needles and two long barbells with flat disc on one side (in case of the swelling and accidentally biting from the inside). She gently put the clamp inside my left cheek, holding it sturdy and POP, one needle was in. She put the barbell inside out and tighten the balls. My adrenaline was so high, my pierced cheek felt real tender but not painful at all. Ms. Tee asked how I was doing, and then calmly did the same with the other side of the cheek, and by the time I knew what was what, I was done. I remember I was thinking: wow, I was worried for nothing at all. Ms. Tee asked me to come back in one week for her to check up on the healing, possibly change the long barbells into shorter ones. My boyfriend looked at me and said "Cool" when he saw what was on my cheeks, and I was pretty proud of myself when looking at the mirror as well. It has been only a couple of days, and my cheeks were swelling big, but I know what to expect, so I am not worried. I was very happy I trusted my instincts and went to Krazy Kats instrad of other places. The prices are a bit higher than other places (I paid 60 for both cheeks), but I'd rather go where the staff are experienced and the studio is as clean as a whistle, than a place that only costs you 20 bucks and uses the same needle on you and 10 other people. I would definitely recommend Krazy Kats tattoos & piercings to all of my friends, and this definitely is the one place I'd go back for more piercings ...and tattoos if that's what you're looking for.
