I had wanted this piercing for a really long time but put it off out of fear. I had a big birthday coming up so I just decided to finally do it! I researched piercers in my area and found a piercing-only shop owned and operated by women and that appealed to me. They had a lot a positive reviews online so I asked a friend to come along for support and we headed to Somatic Body Piercing in Long Beach, CA.
Jill Martin was my piercer; I immediately felt comfortable with her. I selected the jewelry I wanted, she set me up in the piercing room and then made sure I had the appropriate anatomy for the piercing. She made a mark on me so I could see the placement and after I approved it, she went ahead and did the piercing free hand. I wouldn't say it was particularly painful; I mean the second the needle went through felt like a sharp fast pinch but it immediately stopped hurting. The jewelry insertion was a little uncomfortable but nothing major. On a scale of 1-10 (with drug-free childbirth being an 11!!) I'd say the vch was a 3 at most.
Its been almost a year and I absolutely love it! No regrets whatsoever.
If you're in the LA/OC area I highly recommend Jill @ Somatic. She's very professional with a great 'bedside' manner. You can tell she really enjoys what she does.
