Painless piercing akward healing?

I got this piercing done last week, just a rook on my right side. It was a quicky and only moderately painful experience, and I had high hopes that it would heal without a lot of fuss.
BUT now, I don't know if it's been bumped or just because that's such an awkward area to clean, this piercing has made my entire upper ear swollen to the touch and the pain is throbbing. I'm continuing salt soaks, about to try antibacterial soap on it, and will decide in the next few days whether to take it out or not.
I love the way it looks, but if this is the healing process, I will probably never do the left one or get this one repierced.

just keep cleaning it
Posted on January 3, 2009, 4:49 pmjust keep cleaning it sometime cartiledge can be a pain when it is healing just keep cleaning it n take ibuprofin for the swelling but if i were u i wouldn't take it out just give it awhile

Posted on January 6, 2009, 12:49 pmyou should go back to your shop. NEVER take a ring out of an infected piercing. If it is infected and you take it out it'll close and could possibly abcess. Go see a piercer and they can tell you what's going on and if it's normal. Cartiledge sucks. My Industrial was a pain to heal.

It took days of soaking it
Posted on January 6, 2009, 1:49 pmIt took days of soaking it every hour or every other hour, but it's finally not swollen or throbbing. Might be okay, but still may never do the other side...
