Ive been thinking for a long time about getting my septum pierced, read all the stories, did my research. So we were on vacation and drove past a tattoo/piercing place. We stopped in with intenions of getting a tattoo, but i decided id rather get my septum done...finally. Now from what ive gathered online, i guess some people have them pierced through cartiledge, which im guessing is wrong. So i fill out the paperwork and all that. Go back into the room, thinking do i really want this done, i was scared it was going to hurt like hell.
I wrote about my nipple piercings and that I have a"piercings friendly" doctor who likes to do female piercings. The doctor who did my piercings is a new doctor for me.. He was recommended to me by a friend who told me that "I'd like him". I just went for a routine female physical.Getting pierced was not on my mind. Although when I first saw him I was anxious to get on with my physical. His pretty nurse who was getting me ready for the doctor had some pretty tattoos and piercings.
I had been considering getting my septum pierced for quite a while, but was a little scared to go through with it! I finally made an appointment at my piercing studio (Helter Scelter, Jersey Channel Islands). When I went in I was quite scared and nervous, but my piercer put me at ease. She checked my septum thoroughly and cleaned it (which felt strange) and then she put the clamps on... those really were the worst part of this piercing, they were very tight and my eyes began watering immediately!
I had been thinking about getting my septum pierced since it was easily hidden in my uniform and it was different. Not to many females are seen running around with a septum espically in the military. i went to a well known tattoo/piercing parlor asked a few questions and i was well on my way to having it done. I researced it a little via internet reading others experiences which helped. i sat in the chair, had my nose dotted, then came the clamp. Whoa. not ready for that. it was really uncomforable.
I was SCARED to get this one.I mean it.I went to my piercer feeling sick/nervous/generally ill.I'd heard the horror stories of excruciating pain & grown men crying. Now i'm a little 17 year old girl so i was worried.I was kept a while as the lovely neil was tattooing someone. The nerved mounted.I asked my mum to come in with me & hold my hand.It was the first time i'd felt the need for this.Anyways i sat down, he marked up & clamped my septum.I was really paranoid it was on the 'hard bit' so i asked him to double check it wasn't.Ready?
I had my septum pierced a little over a year ago at Lost Art Tattoo [Ogden UT]. My piercer's name was Jen. I was very nervous to have it done, but went through with [my best friend at the time's boyfriend had recently had his done and kind of prepped me.] The piercing was quick, done with a needle. I felt only a quick quick pinch but it didn't hurt. My piercer was fantastic. My nose was sensitive for awhile after but didn't much bother me. I've worn different kind of rings as well as the retainer I currently wear so I can hide it at work. I love love this piercing.
got this done about a year ago. it healed in about 3/4months and now its fiiiiiiiine.had random mounds around the jewellery at first but they subsided after couple of months.its slightlyyy wonky!but apparently its right hard to get it to go through straight...often they have to pierce it a few times to get the needle through straight..so be prepared for this!or be prepared to accept a slighttttly wonky piercing!u cant tell if its only a bit tho, honest!.
Sooo, I just got my septum pierced about an hour or so ago. And honest to god, it did not hurt at all. It felt like a pinch, if that. The only "bad" part was that my piercer (who was excellent, I might add) couldn't get my jewelry through because of something to do with my cartilige. So it took a while to get it through, but other than that, I'm in love with it. And I would without a doubt do it over again. The only thing is I'm probably going to get a smaller diameter for my jewelry when I'm ready to change it.
This piercing Was worse then my labret which never hurt. But this one.. Ehh.. All I'm going to say is Don't get this done unless your absoulutly sure you can handle it. The piercing part isnt so bad. But putting the ring is killer. The first few days I Had it Sharp pains in my nose that were brutal. The nerves re-route themselves. Any bumping touching of sneezing generally hurts And or burns.Try to learn to sneeze and direct most air from your mouth. The cleaning is a bit of a hassle.
The septum piercing was one that I didn't like at first, but that grew on me over time. I'm very fond of symmetry in facial piercings. I wanted something that wouldn't affect my daily life. I also wanted something that would give me a lot of options for jewelery. The septum covers all of these, as well as being able to be a very discreet piercing. After a great deal of research in the area, I found the only studio I felt comfortable going to was Marche Noir, which is about an hour from where I live. My husband and I drove there last night (Friday, September 1, 2006).
