After several decades of waiting to get my navel repierced, I finally took one of my daughters and we both had it done. I am a larger woman (5'6 190lbs) and was worried I was too "fat." The piercer assured me that because my belly did not "fold" when I sat down, that healing would not be an issue. He was polite and kept me engaged in a conversation the entire time. Normally I prefer to be told step by step what is happening, but I was having so much fun talking to him that I didn't even notice. There was a slight pinch, which I actually thought was the clamps, but it was the actual piercing.
On Cinco De Mayo 2013 I got my navel pierced at Salvation Tattoo Lounge in South Beach. I never thought I'd want my belly button pierced but ever since i got my septum done in December I've become a little piercing crazy. Anyway, I walked into Salvation and felt pretty comfortable because I'd been there a couple of times already and the general vibe of the shop was already amazing. I had to sign the usual papers and wait for the people before me to get pierced.
For the best part of 10 years I have been thinking of getting a piercing (other than my earlobes...where I have 2 in each lobe). Today at 27 I decided it was now or never, better to regret something you've done then something you haven't.
I went to the mall where they piercing studio was...and did some serious procrastination shopping. I eventually made it round to the shop. I got the guts to walk in and ask...and was told the piercer was at lunch and I could either stay for or come back in 20 minutes. The chicken in me said I would come back.
Last summer I decided to get my naval done. I was super scared because it's the first time I actually would have skin pierced not cartilage. My piercer was very informative and made me feel better. For me it hurt a lot. She's like it won't hurt unless you have a sensitive stomach.Well i guess I have one lol. After it was done and over with I totally love it. Haven't had any issues with it. It's just taking a really long time to heal. She said about a year so by next year it should be totally healed that's just how my body is. Would totally recommend this to anyone. cheers!!
when i was a baby my mum got her belly pierced, i thought it was really pretty and decided when i was older i would get mine done too.
at the age of 14 a lot of girls at my school were getting their belly pierced for the summer and as all the girls were younger than me i thought my mum would say yes. this was not the case. my mum went insane, telling me i was too young and would get stretch marks.
after that i left it and went in search of information (in my place, you need facts to back you up).
Out of my 14 piercings [including nipples and a genital piercing], my navel was the most painful. I went to True Tattoo in Clifton Park NY in December and asked to have it done. The guy who did it was perfectly nice and I don't have any complaints specifically about the shop. I picked out a teal 12g curved barbell. He pierced it really deep and I passed out after I walked out to the parking lot [thank goodness someone was with me]. 8 months later and it's the only piercing I have that's still healing.
Back when I was in high school I really wanted a navel ring. I loved the way they looked and I definitely had the figure for it. But the thing was, I had this crippling fear of needles. I would burst into tears at the mention of a needle at the doctor's office. At that point I thought I would never get my bling. I was admitted to the hospital for chest pain about 3 times and had been used as a pin cushion. After all that pain, and all the pokes, I decided that I was going to go for it.
I went into my local piercing shop, a Silver Safari at the mall. The ladies there were very nice.
So, last Monday I went for my 3rd and final try for a navel piercing. I got it done with a 12G and not through the same channel as the other two. I had to go back Friday because I swelled too much for the jewelry that was in it. The replacement jewelry was way long but figured it wouldn't be a problem. Here's the problem, I am kinda chunky and have a new puppy. When I sat down the barbell pushed up and was at perfect bite height when holding the new lab pup. Went back today and got a shorter one. Guess what....I also got 2 new angled navel piercings 14g.
My desire to get this piercing was entirely a whim, but I'm SO glad I have it now. I got it done at Alley Cat in Harrisonburg, VA, by Sara. The place was clean, bright, and the employees were friendly. Sara took me back into a curtained room and inspected my navel to see if I'd be able to have the inverse placement (as opposed to the usual top of the navel) and she gave me the go-ahead! She marked me with a marker and had me approve the placement, and then had me lay back in the chair as she explained the aftercare I'd have to go through.
