I got my rook done 7 years ago when I was 15, and it was my first professional peircing. I was so freaked out, I'm afraid of needles and had never been peirced with a needle before. So I laid down closed my eyes and took a deep breath. It was all over before I knew it and hurt less than my hex, which was peirced with a gun OUCH!!!
I got my rook pierced a little over a month ago. I've been wanting to get my ear pierced for a long time, but wasn't sure what to get. My bf suggested the rook, which I'd never heard of. He showed me pics, and I loved it. I'd never seen anyone with it, so I decided to go with it.
I shopped around for prices, and talked to friends who had piercings already. At the recommendation of a few, I picked a tattoo shop about 45 miles from my house.
The girl that did my ear was great. A little too much of a perfectionist, but I'd rather that than a sloppy one.
Well...I think rooks hurt like a SOB. I have a ear project going on, on the left side. 2 lobes, a Tragus, and Helix. I just got both my rooks done in Fort Lauderdale, Tattoo Blue (thanks Pinhead, he did an amazing job!)
the pierces were fast, clean, even as hell, and did not hurt. Here I am 6 days later trying to heal in serious pain! I'm cleaning properly. and from what I have read they are healing ok. But this is nuts. I am envious of everyone who says their rook did not hurt. I mean...what??
I'm taking codeine and they still hurt.
Please whenever you want a piercing go to a professional piercer. Not a tatoo shop that does piercing. An actual piercing shop specializes in piercing. I just got my rook done for the second time and the pain was like night and day from the first one. My first one was done at a tatoo shop and it was misplaced and evetually migrated out. Not to mention how painful it was.
I have had my rook pierced for about 5 months now and I love it. I randomly decided the day that I got it that there was an empty place on my ear that needed to be filled. It took a while to push the needle thorough, because there is alot of cartlidge, and It cant go through in just one push. After I got it done, my piercer told me that it was one of the most painful, because its not just a quick poke through, it takes some pushing. Yes, it did hurt, and I got a barbell put in. It was great to sleep with, because it was tucked in my ear, and didnt stick out.
i had my rook pierced a couple of years ago and i love it.. when i first got it pierced it never really hurt only a little. i got to the piecing place and of course she cleaned it and she marked it and put a receiving tube on it so that the needle wouldnt go into a random place. anyways it was an easy pierce and it didn't hurt but like every cartlidge piercing it takes TIME lots of it to fully heal. i had it pierced with an 18g captive bead ring and left it and didn't mess with it up till a couple weeks ago when i went to get it changed.
Hello, I guess if you are reading this then you're thinking about getting a rook piercing! Well, I got mine done almost a year ago and it is my favorite after my tragus. It's beautiful and I get lots of compliments and questions about it. I love it when people ask, "Did that hurt?" Well, yeah it hurt!
omg well i just got back from the piercing place like an hour ago and lemme tell ya i was nervous. but honestly...it only hurt for about 30 seconds. she cleaned the ring and put it on the needle.and then she got close to me and i told her i wasnt ready becoz she said a lot of ppl freak out and faint...but i breathed in and then out and she jammed it in....it took like 10 seconds for her to actually push the needle through all th cartilage...but really..i expected worse.get it done...becoz it dont hurt!
I had a bit of extra money lying about and thought about getting another piercing so i went onto google and typed in ear piercing, thats when i saw a picture of a rook piercing. I made an appointment with my local piercing studio that same day. Seeing as though i was very nervous about getting this piercing i thought i would look up some past experiences, heres a tip DONT!
One day I set out to get a piercing somewhere in my ear. I decided to get my rook because it was random enough for me. The only pain was the initial needle going through and then it was all over. No pain after that.
